BIOGRAPHY: 

        Mabel immigrated from Canada in 1906, and married Percy D. Petitjean before, or in, 1910.

        At the time of the 1910 Census, Mabel was 20 years old, and living in Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (1-WD - Series: T624; Roll: 140; Page: 52; District: 464 - image is illegible), with her husband, Percy (19), a toolmaker, his Father, George (41), a machinist at the Brass Factory, and his Mother, Lottie (42). Their street address is illegible.

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Mabel was 30 years old, and living in a rented home, at 198 Maple Street, Naugatuck, New Haven County, CT (
1-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 171; District: 300), with her husband, Percy (29), and daughters: M. Doris (7 years and 6 months), and M. Eleanor (4 years and 3 months). A third daughter, Muriel (9), was living at 201 Fair Lawn Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (5-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 195; Page: 257; District: 475), with Percy's parents, George and Lottie Petitjean.

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Mabel was 40 years old, and living at 33 Edin Street, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (4-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 39; District: 255), with her second husband, Arthur Whitehead (40), an electrician for the Brass Company, and her youngest daughter, Eleanor (14), who was listed as a niece, named Evelyn Pettijean.

DEATH: Mabel A.Whitehead died, at the age of 62, on 29 Dec 1951, in Waterbury, CT.

BIOGRAPHY: 

        Muriel was raised by her paternal grandparents, George and Lottie Petitjean.  

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Muriel was 9 years old, and living with George (51) and Lottie (51), at 201 Fair Lawn Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (5-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 195; Page: 257; District: 475). George was a foreman at the Bristol Company.  Muriel's parents, Percy and Mabel, lived at 198 Maple Street, Naugatuck, New Haven County, CT (1-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 171; District: 300), with their other two daughters, M. Doris (7 years and 6 months), and M. Eleanor (4 years and 3 months).

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Muriel was 19 years old, George was 61 years old, and Lottie was 61 years old. They were living at the same address (
5-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 242; District: 265). George was a foreman at the brass factory.  Muriel's Father, Percy D. (39) was living at 132 Norfolk Avenue, Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 2174; Page: 173; District: 249), with his second wife, Sadie E. (35), his daughter (Muriel's younger sister) Doris M. (17), and his step-daughter, Harriet E. Devarney (13).  Muriel's Mother, Mabel, was now married to Arthur Whitehead (40), and living at 33 Edin Street, Waterbury, CT (4-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 39; District: 255), with Muriel's youngest sister, Eleanor, age 14 (listed as Evelyn).

        Muriel married John Hennion (b 2 Aug 1903, d 27 Jul 1993), and they had one child, Paul E. Hennion.

DEATH: Muriel died, at the age of 85, on 8 Nov 1995, in Wolcott, CT.  Her residence, at the time, was 160 Circular Avenue, Waterbury, CT.

BURIAL: Muriel is buried with her Grandparents, George and Lottie Petitjean; her Father, Percy Petitjean, and her husband, John Hennion, at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Waterbury, CT.

 

Doris Margaret Petitjean

BIRTH: 5 Jul 1912, Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut, USA

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Doris was 7 years and 6 months old, and living in a rented home, at 198 Maple Street, Naugatuck, New Haven County, CT (1-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 171; District: 300), with her Father, Percy (29), her Mother, S. Mabel (30), and her sister, M. Eleanor (4 years and 3 months).  Doris' older sister, Muriel, was living with their grandparents, George and Lottie Petitjean, at 201 Fair Lawn Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (5-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 195; Page: 257; District: 475).  

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Doris M. was 17 years old, and living on Norfolk Avenue, Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island (
2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 2174; Page: 173; District: 249), with her Father, Percy (39), Stepmother, Sadie E. (35), and stepsister, Harriet E. Devarney, age 13.   Doris' Mother, Mabel, was now married to Arthur Whitehead (40), and living at 33 Edin Street, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (4-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 39; District: 255), with Doris' younger sister, Eleanor, age 14 (listed as Evelyn).  Doris' older sister, Muriel, was living with their grandparents, George and Lottie Petitjean, at 201 Fair Lawn Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (5-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 242; District: 265
).

        Doris married Gunnard W. Swanson
.  They had three children: Ronald, Gunnard and Carol.  When the children were quite young, Gunnard was hospitalized with a brain tumor.  Doris was traveling daily to Hartford to visit him in the hospital.  During a July heat wave, Doris was stricken with a fatal cerebral hemorrhage after returning home from a hospital visit.  Gunnard died two or three days later, leaving their children orphaned.

Eleanor Mildred Petitjean

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Eleanor was 4 years and 3 months old, and living at 198 Maple Street, Naugatuck, New Haven County, CT (1-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 171; District: 300), with her Father, Percy (29), her Mother, S. Mabel (30), and her sister, Doris (7 years and 6 months).  Eleanor's oldest sister, Muriel, was living with their grandparents, George and Lottie Petitjean, at 201 Fair Lawn Avenue, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (5-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 195; Page: 257; District: 475). 

        In 1930, Eleanor was living in the home of Arthur and Mabel Whitehead, 33 Edin Street, Waterbury, New Haven County, CT (
4-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 280; Page: 39; District: 255), listed as Evelyn Pettijean (niece), 14 years old.  Mabel (really her Mother) was 40 years old and listed as being born in CT (was really born in Canada). Arthur was 40, born in MA, and an electrician for the Brass Company.  Eleanor's Father, Percy D. (39) was living at 132 Norfolk Avenue, Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 2174; Page: 173; District: 249), with his second wife, Sadie E. (35), his daughter (Eleanor's older sister) Doris M. (17), and his step-daughter, Harriet E. BIOGRAPHY: 

        Sarah, known as Sadie, married Percy D. Petitjean.

        In the 1930 Census, Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 2174; Page: 173; District: 249), Sadie E. (35) was married to Percy D. Petitjean. She was born in MA, was a dressmaker, and worked at home. They lived at 132 Norfolk Avenue.  Sadie had a daughter from a previous marriage, named Harriet E. Devarney, age 13, born in CT (Harriet's Father was born in MA).
