BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Bernard was 3 years and 8 months old, and living with his parents, Bernard (25) and Stella (20), and his sister, Rita (2 years and 9 months old), at 138 Spring Street, Naugatuck, CT (3-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 241; District: 303; Sheet: 21B).

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Bernard Jr. was 14 years old, and living with his parents, Bernard (34), and Stella (28), his brothers: Joseph (9), and Edward (6); and his sisters, Rita (13), and Anne (1 year and 5 months), at 14 Christesen Street, Naugatuck, CT (
2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 274; Page: 80; District: 182; Sheet: 9B & 10A).

        Bernard married Anna Bartosinski and they had four children: Bernice, Marcia (deceased), Roseanne, and Steven.

        He was listed in the Waterbury, Naugatuck, and Watertown, Connecticut City Directory, 1946, as Bernard J. Moran Jr., employed (foreman) by Peter Paul, Inc.  He was living with his wife, Anna, at 20 Diamond Street, Union City, CT.

        He was listed in the Waterbury and Naugatuck, Connecticut City Directory, 1979, as Bernard J. Moran Jr., retired. He lived with his wife, Anna, at 109 North Hoadley Street, Naugatuck, CT.

DEATH: Bernard died on 20 Aug 1988, at the age of 72, in Waterbury, CT.

BURIAL: Bernard's funeral was held on 23 Aug 1988, from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, Naugatuck, CT, to St. Francis Church for a Mass at 9:00. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck CT.

 

Rita Moran

BIRTH: 11 Mar 1917, Naugatuck, CT

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1920 Census, Rita was 2 years and 9 months old, and living with her parents, Bernard (25) and Stella (20), and her brother, Bernard (3 years and 8 months), at 138 Spring Street, Naugatuck, CT (3-WD - Series: T625; Roll: 190; Page: 241; District: 303; Sheet: 21B).

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Rita was 13 years old, and living with her parents, Bernard (34), and Stella (28), her brothers, Bernard Jr.(14), Joseph (9), and Edward (6), and her sister, Anne (1 year and 5 months), at 14 Christesen Street, Naugatuck, CT (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 274; Page: 80; District: 182; Sheet: 9B & 10A).

        Rita attended Saint Francis School through 8th Grade, and then Naugatuck High School, graduating in 1935.

Alfred Rossi

        She went to work at Peter Paul, Inc., 885 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT, where she met her first husband, Alfred Rossi (b 21 Dec 1912).  She continued working there after their marriage,

and had reached the position of Production Times Keeper and Supervisor and Employee Liaison before her retirement in 1980.


        Rita and Al had three daughters, Patricia (b 1941), Marianne (b 11 Jan 1947; d 18 Aug 1995), and Carole (b 1951).

        Patricia married William Shea and had two children: Kara and Sean, before their divorce. Marianne had two children (Steven and Todd Boucino) with her first husband, and later married Keith Leuchars. Carole married Peter Bosco and had three children: Heather, Peter and Becky.

        Rita was very active in the Daughters of Isabella, serving as Regent to her local chapter, and a state trustee for many years.

        Rita's husband, Alfred Rossi, died in Apr 1971.

        On January 1, 1979, at 6:00 in the evening, she received a call from a former childhood friend,
William G. Petitjean. While visiting his diseased wife Eleanor's grave in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT, he had noticed the grave of Alfred Rossi, who had been married to Rita Moran. He called her and, after a brief courtship, they married on 22 Jun 1979.

        Rita and Bill spent their honeymoon in East Sandwich, MA, on the Cape, and they returned there frequently.

        Upon William's retirement in 1981, they built a home in Bethlehem, CT.

They lived there for the next 26 years of marriage, often spending winters in Dunedin, Florida.

In March 2007, Rita celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends.

DEATH: Rita died at home, in Bethlehem, CT, on 31 Aug 2007, as the result of cancer.

BURIAL: Funeral arrangements were made by Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Homes. After a funeral mass at St. Francis Church, Naugatuck, CT, Rita was buried with her first husband, Alfred Rossi, and daughter, Marianne Leuchars, in the Rossi family grave site, St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT. 

 

Joseph Moran

BIRTH: 13 Jun 1920, in CT

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Joseph was 9 years old, and living with his parents, Bernard (34), and Stella (28), his brothers: Bernard Jr.(14), and Edward (6); and his sisters: Rita (13), and Anne (1 year and 5 months), at 14 Christesen Street, Naugatuck, CT (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 274; Page: 80; District: 182; Sheet: 9B & 10A).

        Joseph married Natalie Krayeski and they had three children: Edward, Joseph and Theresa.

DEATH: Joseph was a resident of Naugatuck, CT, when he died, on 12 Dec 1975, in Torrington, CT, at the age of 55.

BURIAL: Joseph was buried in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck CT.

 

Edward Moran

BIRTH: 1924, in CT

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Edward was 6 years old, and living with his parents, Bernard (34), and Stella (28), his brothers: Bernard Jr. (14), and Joseph (9); and his sisters: Rita (13), and Anne (1 year and 5 months), at 14 Christesen Street, Naugatuck, CT (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 274; Page: 80; District: 182; Sheet: 9B & 10A).

        Edward served in the medical corp. in WWII and was killed by a Japanese sniper while trying to locate a missing soldier.

BURIAL: Edward was buried in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck CT.

 

Anne Moran

BIRTH: 14 Nov 1928, in CT

BIOGRAPHY: 

        At the time of the 1930 Census, Anne was 1 year and 5 months old, and living with her parents, Bernard (34), and Stella (28), her brothers, Bernard Jr. (14), Joseph (9), and Edward (6), and her sister, Rita (13), at 14 Christesen Street, Naugatuck, CT (2-WD - Series: T626; Roll: 274; Page: 80; District: 182; Sheet: 9B & 10A).

        Anne married Donald Myers and had seven children: Donald Scott, Gary, Rick, Nancy, Susan, Jill and Keith.

DEATH: Anne was a resident of Naugatuck, CT when she died, as a result of breast cancer, on 14 Sep 1980, at the age of 51, in Waterbury, CT.

BURIAL: Funeral arrangements were made by Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Homes. Anne was buried in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck CT.
